Walgreen's Coupon Policy

1. Walgreens does allow stacking. This means they will allow you to use one Walgreens store coupon and one manufacturer’s coupon for the same item.

2. When purchasing two of the same item that is on sale as a Buy One Get One Free – you can use a BOGO manufacturer’s coupon on that product or 1 manufacturer’s coupon only.

3. If you have a product on sale for .79 (for example) and a coupon is given with a face value of $1.00 – you will get the full $1.00 off. No money will be given back so you must purchase another item. The overage from the original item will go towards the second item purchased.

4. You may use coupons on clearance items.

5. The term “one coupon per purchase” means per item purchased.

6. They will accept internet printable coupons.

7. They will NOT accept expired coupons.

8. They no longer have rebates.

9. Register Rewards: Walgreens Register Rewards are Catalina coupons which print up separately from your register receipt after you purchase qualifying items. The Register Rewards can be used like cash on your next purchase.

Catalina machines are generally programmed to print one Register Reward coupon for one qualifying item. If you purchase more than one of the same qualifying items per transaction, you will only receive one Register Reward coupon.

In order to get more than one Register Reward coupon when purchasing more than one of the same qualifying items, request that the each item be rung up on a separate transaction. If you purchase different qualifying items in the same transaction you will receive one register reward for each item.

Note: In some areas the request for separate transactions may be denied. If so - find another Walgreen's that will allow you to do so. There are plenty of Walgreen's store locations in this area.

Stockpiling for the Week of 8/2-8/8

Walgreen’s Coupons Needed:

8 x $2/1 L’Oreal Everpure Shampoo or Conditioner MQ from insert
1 x $1/1 Listerine Whitenng Pre Rinse Mouthwash from insert (you will need this many Qs multiplied by the number of transactions you want to do)

Transaction #1:
Purchase 8 x Suave Deodorant 2.6 oz on sale 25% so $1.41 x 8 = $11.28
Purchase 4 Penway 10 pk pencils @ .19 ea x 4 = .76
Subtotal = $12.04
Use 8 x .50/1 Suave = -$4.00
Use 4 x $2 RRs = -$8.00
Total oop = .04
Get back $10 in RR

Transaction #2:
Purchase 1 Vitamin Shampoo or Conditioner on sale for $3.99 = $3.99
Purchase 1 Butler Gum twin pack toothbrush for $3.49 = $3.49
Purchase 1 Listerine Whitenng Pre Rinse Mouthwash @ $3.99 = $3.99
Subtotal = $11.47
Use $1/1 Listerine MQ = -$1.00
Use $10 RR in T#2 = -$10.00
Total oop = $.47
Get back $3.99, $3.49, and $2.00 in RR or a total of $9.48 in RRs

Ok if you want to roll these RRs:

Transaction #1a:
Purchase 8 x Suave Deodorant 2.6 oz on sale 25% so $1.41 x 8 = $11.28
Purchase 2 Penway 10 pk pencils @ .19 ea x 2 = .38
Subtotal = $11.66
Use 8 x .50/1 Suave = -$4.00
Use the $3.99, and the $3.49 RRs from T#2.
(Set the $2 RRs from the Listerine aside each time and just stockpile those $2 RRs) so - $7.48
Total oop = .18
Get back $10 in RR

Transaction #2a:
Purchase 1 Vitamin Shampoo or Conditioner on sale for $3.99 = $3.99
Purchase 1 Butler Gum twin pack toothbrush for $3.49 = $3.49
Purchase 1 Listerine Whitenng Pre Rinse Mouthwash @ $3.99 = $3.99
Subtotal = $11.47
Use $1/1 Listerine MQ = -$1.00
Use $10 RR in T#1a = -$10.00
Total oop = $.47
Get back $3.99, $3.49, and $2.00 in RR or a total of $9.48 in RRs

And that is how you roll RRs between those 2.

Now for the L'Oreal Everpure:

Transaction #3: Ok now here is where it gets funky. If you only did T#1 & T#2 and did not do T#1a or T#2a this is the way you would finish this Transaction:

Purchase 4 L’Oreal Everpure Shampoo or Conditioner on sale @ $6 ea x 4 = $24.00Purchase 3 Penway 10 pk pencils @ .19 ea x 3 = .57
Subtotal = $24.57
Use 4 x $2/1 L’Oreal MQs = -$8.00
Use the 3 RRs from T#2 = - $9.48
Use 1 $2 RR = -$2.00
Total oop = $5.09
Get back $10 RR that is only good on the next purchase of L'Oreal.

So you do another Transaction:
Purchase 4 L’Oreal Everpure Shampoo or Conditioner on sale @ $6 ea x 4 = $24.00Purchase 1 Penway 10 pk pencils @ .19 ea = .19
Subtotal = $24.19
Use 4 x $2/1 L’Oreal MQs = -$8.00
Use the $10 RR that is good on your next purchase of L'Oreal = - $10.00
Total oop = $6.19
You should not get another RR back unless there is a glitch in their system.

If you did T#1, #2, #1a, and #2a, and you rolled until you were done then do basically the same transactions (T#3 and the extra) listed above however, remember to increase the # of boxes of pencils you buy to equal the # of RRs you use.

How To Organize Your Coupons!

If you have ever clipped coupons, you know what a hassle it is to organize them. I have tried many different methods. Years ago, I put the few I had into a plastic sandwich baggie and stuck it into my purse. This worked fine when I was not a serious coupon clipper.

Next, I moved on to the more obvious choice: a coupon organizer. You can find them at Wal-Mart and sometimes at the Dollar Tree. They are small expandable file folders to hold coupons. They come already labeled. This was a problem. My organizer had no label for baby items or many of the other things I had a lot of coupons for.

The trouble with this system is ---you have to sift through all of your coupons within a broad category to find THE ONE you are looking for. When you are a serious coupon clipper like me, you have a lot of coupons! I realized I was spending an extra thirty to forty-five minutes in the grocery store sifting through them on a big shopping trip.

While shopping for groceries, the ultimate coupon clipping nightmare occurred: I dropped the organizer! All I could think was NOOOOOOO! There where hundreds of coupons spread almost 10 feet around me. There I was, on hands and knees trying to pick them up one by one.

So I went looking on the internet and found a system that works for me. I use a zip up binder with baseball card inserts. Originally I tried putting the coupons behind index dividers grouped by category:

* Baby
* Baking
* Beverages
* Breakfast
* Canned Goods
* Condiments
* Cleaning
* Dairy
* Freezer
* Meats
* Misc. (for batteries, restaurants, etc.)
* Paper Goods
* Pasta and Rice
* Personal Care
* Produce
* Snacks

However, that did not work for me either as I still had to many coupons to go through to find what I was looking for. My DH (dear husband) told me to try organizing them by manufacturer. To my surprise that works for me. If it is a Kellogg’s product – it goes under the K’s, Gillette – the G’s, etc…
When I have determined what coupons I am going to need for a sale I pull them out of the binder and place them in a pencil pocket zip up envelope. I have them for my favorite stores: Target, CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Albertsons, and Dollar General.

Cheap Huggies Pull-Ups Flushable Moist Wipes

In the Smart Source insert from last weekend (7/19) there is a $3/2 MQ. It is reported that Walmart has these regularly priced at $1.64 each.

Math:

Purchase 2 x $1.64 = $3.28

Use 2 x $3/2 MQs = .28 for 2 or .14 each

Great deal!

Where Do I Find Coupons?

Coupons are everywhere! If you’re not looking for them, you often don’t see them when they are right in front of your face. So where can I find them?

1. Newspapers:

Every Sunday The Advocate should have coupon ‘inserts’. An insert is a booklet of coupons. The 3 common inserts found in the newspaper are: Smart Source (SS), Red Plum (RP), and Proctor & Gamble (P&G Saver or PG).

P&G Saver: This comes out once a month on the first Sunday of the month. It contains coupons on Proctor & Gamble items such as Tide, Downy, Dawn, Crest, etc…

Smart Source: Usually comes out every week with varying quantities of coupons in each.

Red Plum: This area received notice on 7/21/09 that Red Plum insert would no longer be in the Sunday paper. Instead it is going to come via snail mail when you receive your grocery store ads.

The only exceptions to when they are in the paper are holidays.

How many papers do I buy? I normally get one paper and find the coupon booklets and see if there are any extremely good coupons in that week’s insert. For example: There was a coupon recently for $2/1 any size A-1 Steak Sauce. Now I know that Target has the smaller bottles of A-1 for $2.09 regular priced. That would make each bottle .09 each. So that week I purchased 10 newspapers. I purchase mine at Wal-Mart which has the cheapest price on newspapers in the area. Just the savings on the A-1 paid for the papers and there were the remaining coupons as well to save even more money.

Each person will need to determine for themselves how many papers to buy but I recommend at least 4.

2. The Internet: There are so many good websites, but I would start out by searching the following:

http://www.coupons.com/
http://www.eversave.com/
http://www.redplum.com/
http://www.coolsavings.com/
http://www.boodle.com/
http://www.couponbug.com/
http://www.valpak.com/
http://www.couponsurfer.com/

These sites and many others have online coupons that you can print. You are usually allowed to print 2 copies of each coupon but no more. The second copy must be obtained by hitting your back button on your browser after you print the first, you will then need to refresh the page and a second copy will print out. If you try to print out more, the screen will normally pop up a message that says, “Sorry, you have printed the maximum number allowed.” If you really want to print more, go to a different computer.

****Word of Warning – Fraudulent Coupons:

Many people have been scanning internet printable coupons or copying them on color photocopiers. It is ILLEGAL to copy or scan coupons. Many stores will no longer accept internet printable coupons because of this. Each internet printable coupon has a code that can link that coupon to your internet protocol address. Please do not do this as it hurts everyone when stores crack down on coupon usage.

3. Tearpads: Have you ever seen coupons on a pad generally attached to a cardboard advertisement for that product in the store on one of the aisles? That is a tearpad. When I go to a store I keep my eyes open for them because I have found some great coupons. I normally will take no more than 4 coupons, always making sure that I leave some behind for others. Always be kind and leave some behind!

4. Peelies: Peelies are simply coupons that are found stuck on a product. Now let’s talk about removing a peelie and taking that coupon but not purchasing the product right then and there. Many people say that it is unethical to take peelies off a product without buying that product. Others will tell you to take some as long as you plan on buying that product in the future. What I will tell you is – do not take all of them. Try to limit yourself to 5 and leave the peelies for others that are going to be purchasing the product at that time.

5. Blinkies: Blinkies are machines that spit out coupons are usually situated around the product featured on the coupon. These are always found in the stores and never anywhere else. I stand at the machine and wait for it to spit out 5 or 6 coupons and go on my way.

6. Catalinas: Have you ever seen the little gray machine that sits next to the register and sometimes it will spit out a coupon for $1 off on your next purchase of a brand of item. That machine is called a Catalina – therefore the coupons that come out of the machine are called Catalina coupons.

7. Sample Displays: Many stores (not Wal-Mart) will have a sample day, usually Saturday or Sunday. Many times there are good coupons at those displays. Make sure to ask the person attending the display if they have any coupons and if so do they mind you having a couple.

8. Snail Mail or Email: Contact the manufacturer of all the products you buy. Check the back of boxes and bags to find the 800 number or look them up on the internet. Tell them how wonderful (or terrible) their product is, and ask if they have any coupons or coupon booklets they can send you. Also ask them to place you on their mailing list for any promotional items.

*I highly recommend setting up a special email account either with Yahoo or with Google and only using that email address for these promotions. The account that I use for promotions gets on the average of 200 emails a day. I do not recommend using the same email address that all your friends and family uses to contact you.

9. EBay or a Coupon Clipping Service: Many people swear by these. Usually these are the most effective if you have a specific coupon you are looking for.

Some of the coupon clipping services that I recommend are:

http://www.coupondede.com/ – you can purchase individual coupons and entire inserts. With fast and inexpensive shipping, you will find that you can have the inserts with the highest value of coupons delivered straight to your door for less than the cost of the paper.

http://www.thecouponmaster.com/ – allows you to order multiple specific coupons for a small handling fee.

http://www.thecouponclippers.com/ – also allows you to order multiple coupons for a small handling fee.

10. Coupon Swap Parties: Ok this way is definitely the most fun. Get together with a bunch of your friends that also coupon and trade coupons. If you don’t have an infant in diapers but your friend does and she has the pet food coupons you need – Trade with each other.

Now you know where I get all of my coupons!

Donate $5 To Help Feed The Hungry and Get $5 in Coupons for Kellogg's Products

As my readers get to know me they will learn that I am huge advocate of donating goods to various charitable organizations.

Kellogg is proud to support Feeding America, a special program that makes it easier for consumers to help feed those in need. Donate $5 or more and you can download and print Kellogg’s® cereal coupons worth a total of $5 (while supplies last; one time only). I would love everyone that read's this to donate $5 and get the coupons. You can get further information HERE.

My Coke Rewards

I am a self admitted diet coke addict. It is my source of caffiene and I drink it like crazy. There is a upside to my drinking as much of it as I do. It is called My Coke Rewards. Under every cap on every bottle of Coca-Cola products (can also be Fanta products as well) there is a code. Inside every 12 pack or larger of Coca-Cola products there is also a code.

Cap codes are worth 3 pts

Pack codes are worth 10 pts and up (depending on the size pack you are purchasing)

You can enter up to 120 pts per week - it resets every Sunday night at midnight.

If you register on MyCokeRewards -and faithfully enter those points you can redeem them for coupons off of future coke purchases or even gift cards to various stores and restaurants. I highly recommend this program.

Why Should I Use Coupons?

Grocery and household items are one of the largest expenses a family has. Ironically, they are also the easiest to cut. While there are many different approaches to cutting your grocery and household budget, couponing can save you the most money. With just a couple of hours a week, you can easily cut 50%-80% off your weekly expense.

Even if you’ve tried couponing before with little success, I encourage you to try my methods. Many have said that time is too tight to waste on trying to save a few dollars. This class will teach you the easiest and quickest way to save more than a few dollars. Instead of working extra hours or doing without, why not stretch what you already have?

Coupons are cash in paper form. To save money with coupons, you can NOT be brand loyal!

A friend of mine owned 4 stores. In the past two years due to the economy, he and his wife lost all 4 stores and their home. Having to cope with a lesser income – they started couponing. His comment was “When I think of all the money I have wasted over the years…it makes me ill.”

Bumble Bee Tuna - $1/2 Printable Coupon - on Facebook

Become a fan of Bumble Bee Tuna on Facebook and you can get a printable $1 off 2 coupon. The Salad Kits are available at Walmart for just $1, so that makes them only $0.50 each after coupon!

Baby, Infant & Toddler Clothes - Extremely Good Deal!

If you have a baby, a grandchild, or even a godchild - or you are like me and need to keep stock of baby items as I always get invitations for baby showers.

Target has infant onesies (regular price $3.99) on sale for 90% off or .39 or .40 each. They also have other infant and toddler clothes on sale anywhere from 50-90% off.

Old Navy also has clearanced a lot of the infant and toddler clothes. One shopper reported that she had purchased 2 pairs of pajamas and 4 shirts for $3.50.

Have Fun Shopping!

Free Bic Highlighters @ Walgreens Expires 7/25

There’s a new $1/2 off Bic Stationery Products found on Coupons.com (you can get to coupons .com via the shortcut located on the right side bar of my blog) currently. BIC highlighters are $0.49 at Walgreen's this week so use 1 coupon to purchase 2 of the highlighters and get both for free. Great deal!

Albertson's Weekly Deals 7/22-7/28

I want to remind you of Albertson's coupon policy.

They do not allow you to combine an Albertson's store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon.

They also do not give rain checks on items that are on sale by using a store coupon. For example in the list below - you go to purchase the Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce and they are out. They will not give you a raincheck.

With that being said, Albertsons has a number of coupons in the front of their flyer for this weeks sale - just note my reminder above.

M&M Mars Candy Bars are .29 ea (Limit 6)
Kool Bursts Kook-Aid Drinks 6 pack on select varieties (make sure you purchase the ones selected for the sale) are .79 ea when you buy (wyb) 2 - limit 2
Hunt's Spaghetti Sauce @ .87 ea limit 2
Fresh Express Iceberg Garden Salad Mix @ .77 ea limit 2
Tony's Crispy Crust Pizza @ .99
Albertson's Fresh Boneless Skinless Fryer Breast Pre-Seasoned - Buy 1 Get 2 Free
There are others but you can see for those in the weekly sales paper.

Now I know you did not come to read my blog just for me to type in all the sales items in the paper. You came to find out what the really spectacular deals are right?

Kellogg's Cereal (Corn Pops, Froot Loops, Apple Jacks) are on sale 4 for $10
But it gets better. Use 4 x $1.50/1 coupon and you get 4 boxes of cereal for $4.00 or $1.00 each. But it gets even better. You will get a coupon for a gallon of FREE Milk up to $3.00 (and yes you can purchase a gallon of milk for more than $3.00 and the coupon will simply deduct $3.00 off)

Blue Bell Ice Cream 1/2 Gal is on sale for $3.99. And yes the deal does get better. Register on Blue Bell's website here and you can print two coupons out for $1 off of a 1/2 gal. That coupon will make it $2.99 a 1/2 gal. Now you may be wondering how to print 2 coupons out. Here's how: When your coupon starts to print, hit the back arrow on your screen and then refresh the page and the second coupon will print out. Do NOT attempt to photo copy the coupon as that is illegal.

Betty Crocker Suddenly Salad Mix is on sale 2/$3. If you go to Betty Crocker's website and register you can print out a couple of .40/1 coupons that will make this item 2/$2.20. Better!

Betty Crocker Pouch Cookie Mix is on sale for $1.79 ea. On the Betty Crocker website is also a .40/1 coupon for this item as well making it $1.39 each.

And...just in case you have gotten addicted to the Moon Pies you catch every year at a Mardi Gras parade....Moon Pie Mini Moon Pies 7.2-8.25 oz are on sale for $1.00.

Now go grab these few deals and make sure I get an invite for the Ice Cream Social!

Cheap Beef Filet from Chef's Request

Winn Dixie has their Chef's Requested 1.2 oz pkg of flat iron beef filet or 10 oz pkg of bacon wrapped beef filet on sale for $4.99. But......the deal get's better.....of course. You can go to Chef's Requested web site here and register and instantly print out a coupon for $1.00 off for each of the items on sale. A 2 pack of Beef Filet Mignon bacon wrapped for only $3.99 and a Flat Iron Beef filet for only $3.99?????? Oh we are going to be eating good in this neighborhood!

Oh did I mention that it was going to get better? Follow them on Twitter and you can get a snail mail coupon for free steaks. Ok now it just doesn't get any better.

Coupon Class at the Y on Old Hammond Has Been Cancelled

I could rant and go into detail but suffice it to say that the YMCA is not the most organized operation. I am trying to find an alternate site to hold the classes. However, in the meantime if you and a group of your friend (could be as few as 5) would like for me to come and speak to your group and teach you how to coupon like I do, please drop me an email at cajuncouponqueen@gmail.com. The meetings would need to be either in the evening from 7:00-8:30 or on a Saturday.

Free First Aid Kits @ CVS this week

Thanks to Karmen at ohsofrugal.com for this great tip:

Free 2 Liter Shasta Cola or Root Beer @ Associated Food Stores

In the one page Red Plum that was wrapped around the grocery sales papers in today's mail is a coupon for a Free 2 Liter Shasta Root Beer or Cola when you buy a 1/2 gallon of Shurfresh Premium Ice Cream.

Some of the Associated Food Stores in this area are:

Hi Nabor - great store and does accept coupons

An ice cold coke float sounds really yummy right now.

Attention The Advocate Readers - No More Red Plum Inserts

I received a notice in the mail today that the Red Plum insert will no longer be carried in The Advocate. Instead they will be mailed to you. Mine comes on Tuesday night and encompasses the grocery sales papers.

Now would be a good time to start begging your friends and family members to save the inserts for you.

I Love Supporting Locals That Love Couponing

I received a great email from another couponer from this area that has a blog. She has some great tips as well. Check her website out at www.ohsofrugal.com

I am thrilled that more people in this area are getting into Extreme Couponing and Frugal Living.

An Ice Cold Starbuck's Frappucino!

My dear husband is a coffee fanatic. Starting Sunday, 7/26 - Walgreens will have the Starbuck's Frappuccino 9.5 oz bottles on sale for 4/$5 when you. In the 6/21 Smart Source insert there was a $1/1 Starbucks bottle of Frappuccino.

Here's the scenario:

Buy 4 Frappuccino's using Walgreens Instant Value Coupon (this is the coupons that you regularly see at the bottom of Walgreen's weekly sales circular = $5.00
Use 4 x $1/1 MQ = -$4.00
Total oop = $1.00 plus tax for 4 bottles of Frappucccino's

I did find the coupons available on Ebay. If you purchase the coupons on Tuesday morning, pay with paypal - you will have them in plenty of time for the sale on 7/26.

I purchase 60 of them for $14.97 so if I do the math:

60 Frappucinos using the IVC @ 4/$5 = 15 x $5 = $75.00
Add the cost of the coupons = $14.97
Subtotal = $89.97
Use the 60 $1/1 coupons = -$60.00
Total = $29.97 plus tax for 60 = .50 a bottle. Still a great deal for dear husband.

Total oop = $10.00

Anyone Want To Get $71.82 of Olay Products for $3.82 appox?

Starting 7/12 CVS has the Olay "buy $20 get $10 ECBs". You would need 3 different cards to do this as the limit is 1 deal per card.

However, since I have mine, dh, and son's - here is the scenario:

Buy 6 Olay products @ $3.99 ea = $23.94
Use 6 x $1/1 MQs = - $6.00
Total = $17.94
Get $10 back in ECBs

Do this on three different cards so:

$17.94 x 3 = $53.82
3 x $10 = - $30.00
Total = $23.82

Then apply for the Olay rebate that has when you purchase $50 worth of Olay you get $20 back.

TOtal = $23.82
- $20.00 rebate from Olay
= $3.82 for $71.82 worth of Olay

The rebate form is here: Skin Care Products, Advice And Treatments At Olay.com

In honor of the winner of this year's America's Top Dog Model - an Old English Sheepdog here is a picture of me with my 3 sheepies piled on top of me.

This has absolutely nothing to do with couponing and everything to do with my love for Old English Sheepdogs. I rescue and foster this breed of dogs and have 3 of them currently at my home, Lucky, Samson & London (aka Brat Baby).

I wanted to say congratulations to Dudley, an Old English Sheepdog, for being crowned the winner in America's Top Dog Model. GO DUDLEY!
